I have long-term disability insurance at work, am I covered?

Group long-term disability is insurance offered through work and usually paid for by your employer. Individual long-term disability insurance is what we offer here at Saturday Insurance — disability insurance that you buy on your own.

Group disability is your first line of defense because it’s usually free and doesn’t require a medical exam. Even if it’s not free, group disability is also usually much cheaper than individual insurance. In general, if it’s available, experts recommend that start with your group coverage as your primary source of protection.

If you don’t have group disability coverage at work or the coverage doesn’t provide enough protection, then you should consider purchasing an individual long-term disability policy.
